Several See Strange Lights in E. South Dakota &
N. Nebraska on October 22, 2007 On the evening of October 22, 2007 several independent groups of witnesses saw bright lights in the sky over eastern South Dakota and Northern Nebraska. It was first thought that these lights could be the result of military exercises. However, efforts to confirm this have failed. Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City, South Dakota says that they do not conduct excercises in the area of this sighting. Calls to Offutt AFB in Southeast Nebraska have not yielded any information in whether exercises are conducted in this area. A later report from Colume, South Dakota indicates that these sightings on October 22 could be military flares dropped from aircraft. Another report from a very reliable source on October 23 saw similar lights in the same general area. He is reasonably convinced that the lights were not military flares and had no explanation. Given all of these reports no explanation can be rendered for the source of these lights.
