Description: I was driving to work Friday morning. I work as a caregiver to mentally challenged adults in a country, yet residential setting outside the city of Schenectady, NY. I have been traveling this scenic route for fifteen to sixteen years. As I turned onto the final stretch of road that would lead me to my job, I suddenly witnessed something that I cannot explain. It was as though a green firework went off yet with out any sound. I thought perhaps it was a shooting star, but there was a green emanation of light that briefly lit up the area. The light came down from what appeared to be the dark night sky, emanated brightly as it appeared to fall down into the tree line and dissipated.
It was startling and eerie. I remember thinking: get to work, get to work which was right up the hill. I was shaking, but felt that what ever it was, it didn’t get me. I am safe. I know this sounds crazy, and I am not claiming that this was a UFO. I just don’t know what it was. I have never seen anything like that in my life. I am hoping that someone else from the area, also witnessed at least the emanation of instantaneous green light. I am due back to work tomorrow morning and I am afraid to make the trip. I told no one at work of my experience. I hope not to see anything like that ever again.
Note: The witness probably saw a meteor with a significant copper content. The copper causes the “green emanation” of light. A check of the American Meteor Society Website (http://www.amsmeteors.org) showed several reports of “fireballs” (some green) in the Northeast U.S. around the time that the above witness experienced her sighting.Note to Commenters: If you are reporting a sighting, be sure to include the location (city, state, country), date and time of your sighting.
