Description: As I was taking a picture of a passenger jet that was a high in the air (going from my right towards my left) I saw a small speck of white against the sky, which I thought was another airplane. As I got my camera focused and zoomed in on the object it did not look like a regular airplane. I was able to take 2 pictures of it. It was flying towards the horizon (going from up to down or North to South in what looked to be a straight line) East of my location. After downloading the pictures I noticed that it did not have any features of a regular airplane and I could not identify it.
Response of Witness to Investigator Questions:
Answers to your questions follow:
1. The object was not close to the airliner.
2. Yes, the picture of the airliner is attached.
3. The airliner looked to be headed North to Northwest while the object moved towards the East several miles away, it was behind the airliner. It was not close to the airliner. They were several miles apart.
4. The object moved in what appeared to be a straight line towards East (horizon). I saw the object maybe a total of 5 seconds, it was moving/flying fairly quick. (There were only 2 seconds between the 2 photos of it.) I lost sight of it due to it going behind some pine trees.
If you have any more questions, just let me know.
Report By Photo Analyst David Mason: I examined the photos and could not arrive at anything conclusive. The EXIF data is consistent between the aircraft and unknown object photos. There was nothing recorded to indicate tampering. The photographer also indicated the object moved rapidly, which makes it unlikely to be a known man made craft. Examining the images in Photoshop did not reveal anything noteworthy other than the camera settings appeared consistent. The shape is very unusual and it shifted in appearance between the photos.
Note: The photo was taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ70 digital camera. This is a 16.1 megapixel camera that can do optical zoom up to 60X. Based on the focal length (215 MM) I estimate that the object was optically zoomed about 11X. This is the reason that the trees in the background are blurry. Also the shutter speed (exposure time) was 1/100 second which means that the shape of the object is probably not due to camera movement or actual movement of the object. The photo of the aircraft was zoomed at about 10X and taken with a shutter speed of 1/125 seconds. The fact that the shape of the aircraft is not distorted lends more credence that the camera captured the real shape of the UFO. The UFO photos and the aircraft photo were taken under nearly identical camera settings only one minute apart.
March 8, 2014 is the same date that MH370 went missing. I am not suggesting a relation, but perhaps something unusual is going on? This object was near a commercial airliner.Note to Commenters: If you are reporting a sighting, be sure to include the location (city, state, country), date and time of your sighting.
