Description: Hi: I saw something that started out as an orange orb and traveled erratically to the East. Off in the distance it became horizontal and turned into about 8 orange lights. This was the second orange orb sighting. After the first sighting I convinced myself it was a Chinese lantern. Now after this second sighting I am not sure if it was a Chinese Lantern. Feel free to call me. I am in central time zone. I saw this on 10/23/12 at about 6:24 PM in McHenry, IL. Feel free to call any day after 2 PM CDT. I attached a picture. In person it was orange. For some reason the picture makes it look silver. When I came inside my internet connection was out. And my dogs were acting strange 10 minutes before the sighting.
I am SO happy that I found this post. I too witnessed this orange orb eerily moving across the sky. I live in Arlington Heights, Illinois which I believe is relatively close to McHenry and my sighting was probably around 10 PM. The orange orb object moved across the skyline without making any noise at all. If I hadn’t seen it in the first place, I would have never known anything was in the sky. It consisted only of a very bright orange/red glowing orb with a slight tail to it that resembled that type of hazy distortedness you see when you look at a street in the distance on a hot day. Right when the object was leaving the area of sky I could see it seemed to change to a bright white or yellowish color and disappear very suddenly. I am not easily convinced of these types of things, but the nature of the object was so bizarre that I am sure it was no conventional aircraft. What is it that could be going on? I mean even if it isn’t a UFO, I would still like to know if anyone has any logical explanation for this.
