Description: I was out on a yacht, taking part in the Port Townsend High School sober grad night celebratory cruise of 2010.

Our yacht sailed south of Whidbey Island toward Seattle. We eventually turned around to face the North-East and the Everett skyline. My classmate and I went out on the bow of the yacht to smoke a cigarette and take in the view.

We both looked out across the water toward Everett. The night was very clear with a few cloud formations. The lights of the city illuminated the underside of a large flat cloud that floated over Everett.

I remarked to my friend, how pretty the city looked at night and she agreed. Just as we were studying the skyline and the lights, we saw a very strange thing:

From the underside of the cloud dropped a rounded rectangular bar of violet light. It dropped as if with gravity out of the cloud, froze momentarily in mid air beneath the flat underbelly of the cloud, and then sped away north easterly with incredible speed. The speed at which it traveled was in an exponentially increasing rate.

For a usable reference: (It was like going light speed from the movie star wars.)

We both looked at each other in astonishment and disbelief. The rest of night my classmate did not speak to me, and in fact we never spoke again. she seemed troubled by it, while I was deeply curious and excited.

Note: The witness found some similarities to a mass sighting of lights in Edmonds, WA on March 13, 2010.
