Description: I SAW A NEAR SINGULAR LINE OF ‘AIRCRAFT” – ABOUT 15 HEADING EAST. THEY WERE ALL IN FORMATION AND NOT VEERING FROM THEIR LINE. THE NEWS NOW SAYS IT’S AIRCRAFT FROM BUCKLEY AIR FORCE DOING FORMATIONS. THE PROBLEM IS THERE WAS NO JET NOISE AS IT WENT OVER OUR HOUSE! THERE WERE 13 AIRCRAFT – IN LINE AND THEY MADE NO NOISE? THEY MOVED SWIFTLY OVER OUR HOUSE AND THEN SLOWER AS IT WENT EAST.

Note: Similar sightings of lights in a line were seen just West of Emporia, KS and Colony, KS on Dec 9, 2017.

Note: The commentor below appears to have come up with the explanation for this and several other similar sightings on Dec. 9, 2017. The lights were due to military exercises.

Note to Commenters: If you are reporting a sighting, be sure to include the location (city, state, country), date and time of your sighting. Be detailed in your description. You may also use our report form to report your sighting. Comments will be published if they are in "good taste" and not inflammatory.

This was a sighting of USAF C-17s & C-130s participating in JFEX17 (Joint Forced Entry Exercise). It’s all over news & internet aviation sites.

    • Administrator says:

I don’t believe that for a minute. No one heard any sounds and the Air Force wouldn’t conduct exercises across the entire U.S. on the same night. C130’s are loud. I have ridden on them.

      • Marvin Carpenter says:

There is no way what I saw along with my family were C130s. Our sighting was over Mt Morris, PA on 12/17/17. What we saw were 10 to 15 red Orb. They were in what looked like a half moon formation with no sound and they almost hovering. Sorry C130s don’t hover the last I checked! A pair of the orbs almost touched the ground then went into almost an oval shape formation! They were not jets or bombers!

Keep in mind that your sighting was a week after the Dec 9, 2017 sightings which you are commenting on. No one (to my knowledge) tried to explain your sightings. The sightings on Dec 9, 2017 were what the media termed military exercises.

  2. Observer says:

My goodness, I listened in to the operation, via HF radio, as the aircraft from the east side of the US flew toward Nevada. What people did or didn’t hear had everything to do wit their distance from the aircraft.

Here’s additional information about the JFEX17 event. Scroll down this page to see the aircraft participating in the exercise. You could also have looked at an ADS-B tracking web site & seen the aircraft in question right where people were reporting them & right when they were reporting them:

Your link seems to confirm witness reports. Given that I receive 100’s of UFO reports I don’t have time to scroll through websites confirming or dispelling reports. It takes a lot of time just to post reports. I sometimes rely on commentors to find explanations or provide details.

  4. Observer says:

But you know, most witnesses got what they were seeing 100% correct. Likely they were too far from the flight paths to hear the aircraft, but still most didn’t describe anything that they didn’t see. To me that’s a pretty good vindication of people’s ability to accurately describe an unusual observation!
