Description (In Witness's Own Words With a
Few Edits): Anyway, just sending my video alone won't be all
that much unless you understand the whole incident from that night.
This object was in our area well over 25 minutes - if not longer. It
was very bright and had intense light. It moved slowly, lowered and
hovered, rose and moved slow and steady - it never bopped up and
down like a balloon. NO smoke, sparks, or haze or string was seen
around it or coming from it. It was close enough for us to see that
it was NOT a flare or firework and it was completely silent. We were
at the nearby park (see above map) when we first spotted this thing.
We viewed this for 10 to 15 minutes, then it took another 8 to 10
minutes before we arrived at my house. I run and unlocked my house,
and took another 2 minutes to grab my VHS Camcorder, and a VHS tape.
Then I start to record this on my front porch as this object is
coming closer to my house. But you can ONLY hear me on the tape for
about the first 40 seconds- I had the Lens cap on! (Note: The video
has been muted to protect anonymity of witness.) The video is not
all that great but it's something and just over 6 minutes long
before we completely loose sight of it. I do zoom very close in (at
times too close I guess) and try to zoom out. The VHS Camera was
quite heavy and I was getting tired. The object did not bounce
around as seen in the video. It moved steady, and slow and at times
it stopped. NO FLARE or firework could be in the air for over 25
minutes as this was that night.
Investigator's Notes: Oregon
MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) investigators investigated this sighting
shortly after it occurred in 1992. The video was analyzed by
Jeff Saino who is a well respected video analyst for MUFON.
MUFON had no explanation for the light. Jeff Saino said that
the shape of the light was that of the camcorder's aperture due to
the poor focus. MUFON did not conclude that the light was due
to fireworks, flares, balloons, or any conventional phenomena.
Apparently only the primary witness (video operator) was
interviewed. This sighting occurred nearly 15 years ago so finding
and interviewing other witnesses will be quite difficult.
Given the previous investigation and the content of the tape I have
no explanation for this sighting. Anyone with recollection of this
sighting is urged to provide information.
