Sighting Reports 1994 Three Witnesses Have Close Encounter With Flying Triangle Click Here to Read Newspaper Article Date of Sighting: September 20, 1994 Description (In Witness's Own Words): We saw a round object with (3) very bright lights arranged in triangle on the SW side of Plains, Montana. The object approached the site where we were building a new home, slowly and then hovered directly above. (It seemed to be only few hundred feet from us.) The object hovered for a few minutes. I got my 35mm camera and unfortunately fitted a 500mm mirror lens before taking a picture. (When the picture was developed it showed only what appeared to be a big smoke ring.) The object then started moving away and within a few seconds was only a distant bright spot reflecting sunlight far over the tops of the mountains to the northwest. The site was right on the outskirts of town, yet no-one else, besides me, my wife and the hired carpenter with us, saw it. Second Report From Witness: The craft was round or cylindrical. The (3) bright lights were arranged in triangle. My wife had just come to the front door of the house to tell me that lunch was ready, over at the shop where we were living while building house. Just as I got to door I heard her ask "what is it, a balloon?. Instantly when I looked up and saw it silently approaching us and then stop directly above, I knew we were looking at a genuine UFO and that is what I said. Craft was metallic like highly polished aluminum. My entire adult life has been involved in the aerospace industry. Four years in naval aviation, 31 years with Boeing as an inspector on Minuteman missile facilities and aircraft flight line. Am also a private pilot so I was pretty aware of what existed in the way of aircraft on earth anyway. Investigator's Notes: This case is very significant because it is a close encounter in the daytime, a photo was taken, and the witness has nearly impeccable credentials. (See second report above.) The witness originally misplaced the photo, but has since found it. The photo is posted above. The witness also took a second photo. The object shows up fainter in the second photo because it had moved farther away. A newspaper article about the sighting written on September 28, 1994 includes the photo taken of the object. The article contains a copy of the photo. The photo shows a white "smoke ring." Apparently the object changed appearance as it was leaving to the Northwest. (The witnesses were likely looking at the object from a different orientation. The witness said that the photo did not capture what the object really looked like.) Smoke rings have been seen in areas where UFOs have disappeared or moved from. (Click here to read a report of a strange ring seen by a Salt Lake City, Utah trucker in 2001.) Given the report this craft does not sound like any known conventional aircraft.
