Number of Witnesses: One

Description: The witness did not report the sighting until several years after it happened. At 71 he felt compelled to tell someone about his experience. He read about UFOs Northwest in a local newspaper and decided to file a report. The witness stated that he was going for a walk in a remote area that is about a 30 minute drive from his residence. He recalls having had a heart operation and wanted to go out for some exercise. He parked his car and started walking down a logging road. (See above photo of road.) He continued to walk eastward on the road and upon rounding a bend he noticed a dull metallic disk machine partially blocking the road. He said at the time that he was relaxing and meditating while walking. The object remained motionless on the ground. He does not recall if the object was perched on a tripod. He continued to walk towards the object from about 30 seconds to 2 minutes. The object then ascended without making any sound or showing any visible propulsion. No disturbance of the surrounding area (dust, leaf movement) was noted as the object ascended. The object ascended vertically and may have tilted somewhat. It ascended vertically to the tree tops. At that point the witness heard something fall off the craft (dense material) and impact the wood of the trees. The witness did not see anything fall. The craft then made about a 20 to 30 degree ascent over the trees to the north and was quickly out of sight.

The witness did not see any beings in or out of the craft. He said that he was not abducted.

The witness described the craft as dull metallic in color with windows. (See above sketch.) The object was between 50 and 100 feet in diameter and about 8 to 10 feet high.

After the craft departed the witness suspended his walk and returned home. He was not scared, but wanted to leave the area immediately.

Comments: Two investigators visited the landing site and interviewed the witness. Nothing unusual was noted at the landing site. Radiation measurements were not above background and no magnetic anomalies were detected. GPS readings were taken at the site. The witness is highly educated and holds an advanced degree in biological sciences. He is retired and had a long successful career with the U.S. government. We found the witness to be quite intelligent and very credible. He does not believe that the craft was non-terrestrial and feels that the craft was probably U.S. military. He rarely reads UFO literature and does not have a special interest in the subject. Based on the witness report we have no doubt about the veracity of his experience. The identity of the object is unknown. We don't feel that the object was U.S. military.
