Sighting Reports 2000
Man Recalls Seeing Fast Moving Light, Stop & Split Into 3 Lights.
Centerport is on the North Beach of Long Island Across From Connecticut.

Description: Right after I graduated high school around 2000 I was at a beach called Centerport Beach which is located in Centerport, NY with a friend. The beach allows an unobstructed view of Connecticut. While enjoying a beautiful sunset around 7:30 PM in my friend's car we noticed a light across the Long Island Sound over Connecticut. It moved up into the sky at a rate much faster than a helicopter and then stopped abruptly. We were in complete awe. The light stayed there and remained stationary for about a minute. It then proceeded to separate from one light into three. Each light was equally distant. They were about two miles high and were able to separate about a mile apart in about two seconds. They stayed stationary and didn't move for about 30 seconds. They then moved back together into one at the same speed in which they separated. It stayed there for about a minute and then went back down to the ground. I never forgot this day and I cannot explain what it was. I never told anyone about this except my parents because I didn't think anyone would believe me. I cannot remember the exact date in which this event occurred because it was been around 10 years so the date which is listed below is just an estimate.
