Woman Takes Photograph of UFO in Detroit, Michigan?

Description:  A woman was outside in the eastern part of Detroit, Michigan (Jefferson and Saint Jean area).  She was driving southbound and decided to stop and take a photo with her Motorola cell phone camera.  She snapped the photo towards the sun in a southerly direction.  Her intent was to use the photo for her computer screen saver.  She returned home and downloaded the photo to her computer.  At that time she noticed a suspicious speck in the photo near the sun.  She subsequently enlarged the photo and said that it "appeared to be a UFO spinning near or toward the sun."

Investigator Notes:  Upon receipt of the report I attempted to contact the witness via email to obtain more information about the sighting and get a copy of the photo.  The email address provided by the witness proved to be problematic as messages would "bounce."  I did reach the witness by phone.  I again requested a copy of the photo.  The witness supplied few additional details, but promised to supply me with a copy of the photo electronically.  As of April 28, 2004 I have not received a copy of the photo.

Summary/Bottom Line:  A search of other UFO databases did not reveal any other sightings in the Detroit area on the date of the sighting.  The fact that the witness has not supplied the photo suggests that the sighting could be a hoax.  Without more data no definitive conclusion can be made.
