Two Sisters Sight Strange Lights Near Ocean Shores Washington on March 19, 2004

image

Appearance of Lights (Looking Towards the East)
as Depicted by One of the Witnesses
of the Sighting Near Quinault Casino

Date of Sighting: March 19, 2004
Time: 7:50 PM P.S.T
Number of Witnesses: Two
Location: Slightly North of Ocean Shores, Washington

Description:  Two sisters were on their way home in the early evening hours.  They turned south at a location called "Hogan's Corner" which is the road going towards Ocean Shores, Washington.  (See map of their location and where the sighting occurred.)  They saw some strange lights and then drove to the parking lot towards the Quinault Casino in order to stop and get a better look at the lights. The witnesses said that the lights were hanging in the air “like a helicopter”, but no noise was heard.  The drawing above shows red, green, and white lights.  One of the witnesses described the lights as being red, green, and gold in color.  The witnesses said that the lights were blinking, flashing and were about 150 feet in the air.  (This estimate was based on the height of pine trees in the area that are about 100 feet in height.)

Investigative Notes:  I know both of these witnesses and trust their observations.  However, the sighting lacks corroboration from other witnesses.  The witnesses also suggest that they originally thought that the lights were emitted from a helicopter.

Bottom Line:  Although both of the witnesses are credible I think that the lights were from a Coast Guard helicopter.  A better analysis could be conducted if more information and witnesses were available.
