I have contacted NORAD public affairs several times in the latter
part of October, 2004 to inquire about possible locations of
descending space junk. My inquiries are related to
investigations of UFO sightings in the U.S. and Canada. When
first making my inquiry I have always talked to someone in public
affairs (no voice-mail). However, the public affairs officer
has only called back once. The response that I have been receiving
is that the dispatcher would check with the "Early Warning Center"
regarding my request. However, no response was received. In one
instance I later called regarding my request and was told that NORAD
personnel were involved in a training class. In another
inquiry a military contact told me that NORAD was extensively
involved in special exercises and did not have time to answer my
question.
Comments: Obviously something is going on at NORAD.
Normally NORAD is responsive to my requests. I suspect that
preoccupation with exercises is related to the
election and other possible threats. I have learned in a previous request that these
exercises frequently involve scrambles of aircraft and the intent is
to simulate a real threat.
