Sighting Reports 2005 3 Photos Taken of Flaming Object in Early Evening Sky
Date of Report: July 2nd or 3rd, 2005 (Estimated) Description: Report One: The sighting was a few years ago. I am not sure of the date. It was over Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. All we could see was the fire ball and there was no sound. As you can see from the pictures there really does not appear to anything there but the fire. I will try and figure out the date and email you with that information. Report Two: I am thinking that the date may be correct because I have pictures in a file called Canada Day (which is July 1st) and the pictures were taken July 2nd and 3rd on the long weekend. So the date is probably correct. I believe that the time is around 5:30 PM because we were making supper on the BBQ and we usually eat around 5:30 PM. Note: These are good photos. I don't know what was photographed, but I am inclined to believe that it was space junk. The photos about were taken about two minutes apart. That is a long time for a meteor to be visible. Therefore the meteor explanation is more doubtful. Sometimes space junk can be visible for several minutes so perhaps this what occurred. Update June 9, 2010: In light of the comments received below I believe that the photos are of jet contrails. The contrails are colored a reddish-orange due to the low angle of the Sun. Comments Received June 9, 2010: The photos are of aircraft contrails moving over the western horizon. Send Drawings, Photos, or Videos Relating to Your Comments
