Description: A woman called and reported a bright stationary
light in the southern sky which she observed for nearly 3 hours. Two
of her friends also saw the light. The police were called and
responded. The police were "baffled" by the light. Subsequent
to the police report the witness called me. The police later
said that the light was the star Sirius.
Investigator's Notes: It is my
opinion that the witness has been viewing Mars. Mars is very
close to the Earth this month and is very bright. Also the
position (in the Southern sky) is consistent with the position.
UFOs Northwest has received several reports of apparent sightings of
Mars.
