Sighting Reports 2005

Three Witnesses Sight Bright Blue-White Flashing Light

Date of Sighting: November 25, 2005
Time of Sighting: 7 to 10 PM PST
Date Reported: November 25, 2005
Duration of Sighting: Three Hours
Location of Sighting: Tacoma, Washington
Latitude:   47.183 Degrees North
Longitude:  122.496 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: Three
Number of Witnesses Interviewed: One
Weather: Few Clouds Between 2,500 & 4,000 Feet. Visibility 10 Miles. Weather Radar Showed A Few Weak Showers to the West During the Time Period of the Sighting.

Description (In Witness's Own Words): West of us, we saw a blue white \"flash\" of light every three minutes like a camera taking a very large flash picture. It got brighter with ever flash. At first we thought it was lightning, though oddly shaped and closer to the ground. We also heard no sound, but then we started timing the flashes, and it was every three minutes. Three people saw these lights, we were playing basketball when they caught our attention. Shortly before 10 PM they just stopped.

Follow-up Report by Witness In Response to My Questions (Witness is Describing the Lights That She and the Other Witnesses Saw): It wasn't actually like a light BALL, more a flash of very bright light, like someone taking a picture using flash with a huge camera it was large enough that it looks as though something had exploded in the sky each time but there was no accompanying noise to account for it. As such you cannot compare size wise to a ball pea or the moon. Basically it lit up the sky over at least a city block each time.

Investigator's Notes:  This sighting was reported immediately after it happened.  This suggests that the witnesses were impacted by the sighting.  I don't know what the witnesses saw given current information.  I don't believe that they saw lightning because the few showers to the west were very weak and probably not of sufficient strength to produce lightning.  There was a report on the same night of the sighting of lightning striking a commercial airliner.  I don't know where this lightning strike occurred, but weather radar showed only weak showers in the area of the sighting. There were strong showers to the northeast of Tacoma (over the Cascade Mountains.) I also don't believe that the flashing lights were celestial bodies or satellites.  Any new information will be posted.
