Description (In Witness's Own Words):
I was woke up by my dog who was going insane. I looked out window
and every thing was pink the snow the sky every where. I grabbed my
camera and got off one picture before it shot straight up in the air
and was gone in a second. I live in a small town and 14 other people
saw it. I do not know what it is, but as soon as it disappeared the
sky turned back to normal and my dog stopped barking right away.
Second Report by Witness (In Response to My
Questions):
1.) My camera is a Nikon D70s and it is digital I am 46 and this is
my first camera and the first time I turned on a computer was 3
months ago so when you ask me what the pixel density is I have no
idea what you are talking about.
2) And what I did I do the picture? I just downloaded it to my
computer and nothing else what you see is exactly what I saw the sky
was that color every where you looked it was pink. I do not know
what to tell you. I took a picture of what I saw. The light was
so harsh that I saw pink spots for 20 minutes after it had
disappeared. It was so bad that when I looked at the screen on my
camera after it disappeared I did not think I had got it it was not
until my eyes stopped seeing spots that I saw the picture.
3) The picture was taken on Jan.16, 2006. I sent you you the
picture again and a picture of my back yard to show you that we have
a lot of snow the picture I sent you has a lighter color on the top
that is the snow over hanging on my roof. The picture was taken with
me pointing my camera straight up in the air and I had enough time
to just take one picture.
4) The people were not my next door neighbors but I live in a small
retirement town and most people know or know of everybody. The day
after I took the picture I made a copy and went up to the local Vet
a friend and wanted to ask him what he thought and while I was there
other people in his office saw the picture and were saying things like oh my god I was woke up by my dog barking also and everything
was pink. One lady was going to take her elderly mother to the
doctor because she thought her mother was starting to see things and
my friend the vet since this thing was first seen he and his wife
who is a doctor and they live on the lake and with nobody around
them. They have had their house lit up twice in the middle of the
night. Their house is built 600ft from the water and when what ever
it is has lit them up with a light so bright that they can see the
water (frozen over because it is winter now) and it is like the
noonday sun they can see everything it last 5 seconds and then it is
back to normal. They now carry a camera and video camera every place
they go.
5) It had been snowing because earlier I was shoveling the driveway
at 10:30pm and my dog sat and stared at the sky the whole time. I
was out it was strange because he is a border collie and every other
time he would be trying to herd the shovel he was so into what ever
it was I had to touch him to get him inside he never realized I was
calling him and 5 hours later he was going insane. The weather at
the time of the pink sky was cloudy. Thank you for looking at my
picture if you have any questions please let me know. I have no idea
what it was but what you see in the picture is what I saw in the sky
if not for my dog barking I would have never have seen the object.
The picture was not touched in any way what is there is what I saw.
Thanks again.
Investigator's Notes: I first thought that the photo was a hoax, but
subsequent communication with the witness is quite suggestive that
this was a real event. The witness was one day off on the date
of the photo (the camera signature said January and he reported
January 16). However, this is understandable as it is easy to
be off day for something that happened nearly two months ago.
Also the date could possibly be wrong on the camera and needs to be
reset. Also I doubt if the witness "doctored the photo"
because he didn't know the pixel density of his camera (see his
response above). In addition he just recently purchased a
computer so he likely did not have a high degree of knowledge of
computer software. Apparently several other people were awakened by
their dogs barking on the same night and saw the bright light and
pink sky. The pinkness is quite unusual and the light must
have been bright. The witness complained about temporary
problems with his vision. Given these new details this
sighting falls into the unidentified category. According to the computer signature on the picture, the photo was
taken with a Nikon D70s, 6.1 megapixel digital camera. Additional
analysis of the photo indicates that the photo came directly from
the camera and was not modified by any photo editing program.
