Woman Sees Light That Grew Larger

Date of Sighting: July 4, 2006
Time of Sighting: 9:30 PM PDT
Date Reported: July 4, 2006
Duration of Sighting: About 15 Minutes
Location of Sighting: Bonney Lake, Washington (About 12 Miles ESE of Tacoma)
Latitude: 47.18 Degrees N
Longitude: 122.17 Degrees W
Weather: Clear Skies. Visibility 10 Miles.

Description: Witness was watching fireworks and suddenly saw a light appear at a closer location then where she was viewing the fireworks. She stated that she could see the moon and that the light was to the right of moon. She grabbed her video and took several minutes of footage. She says that the light grew larger as she continued taping. The position of the light was to the South-Southwest.

Investigator's Notes: The witness reported the sighting immediately after it happened. Given the description that she provided it is my opinion that she was observing the Planet Jupiter. Jupiter has been very bright in the south to southwest in the evening skies after sunset. The apparent growth was probably due to her using the zoom function on her camcorder. (The witness stated that she would send me a copy of the video tape, but the tape has not yet been received.)
