Description: Listen to Recording of Witness Report.
The witness reported this sighting a few minutes after it happened. He was quite excited by what he saw. He stated that he saw a jet followed by a contrail traveling south (towards Atlanta, Georgia). The witness noticed a white object following the jet (to the left side). The jet then turned completely around (180 degrees) and head towards the north. The white dot continued on the same southerly track. The witness's 16 year old daughter also saw the object.

Investigator's Notes: This sighting is most interesting in that it occurred during the daytime under excellent weather conditions and it possibly could have involved an aircraft diverting direction as the result of an unknown object. (Perhaps the air traffic controller told the pilot that radar showed an object following.) I have monitored news casts and no aircraft were reported to have diverted flight on October 7 in the Eastern U.S. If a diversion occurred, it did not make the news. I plan to obtain radar data from the FAA to see if radar showed any flights changing direction of flight and if unknown objects were detected in the area of aircraft. Updates to this case will be updated.

Update December 1, 2006: The FAA has denied that radar records exist for this area. I find this most interesting as this location is only 100 miles from Atlanta, Georgia International Airport. Atlanta airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. I am certain that this area has radar coverage. Click here to read letter.
