Duration of Sighting: About 5 Minutes
Date Sighting Reported: January 1, 2007
Location: Long Beach, California (Near Los Angeles)

Longitude: 118.3 Degrees West (Long Beach Airport)
Number of Witnesses: Possibly 100s.
Number Witnesses Interviewed: One

Description: I received a call early on January 1, 2007 from a witness who was quite excited by seeing 5 lights that moved erratically on the night before on December 31. He said that he called 911 and they had received several other calls and didn't know what was causing the phenomenon. Apparently the lights were moving back and forth and "touched each other." They would appear and disappear, and then after 5 minutes completely disappeared. The witness stated that skies were mostly cloudy and that he could not see stars.

Investigator's Notes: This investigation is in progress. One possibility for the sightings could be that that some promotional advertising or celebration could have resulted in reflections off of the low overcast, but this is difficult to confirm. I am trying to obtain copies of the 911 tapes. I have not found any media outlets (TV or newspapers) that mentioned the sightings. Updates will be posted.
