Date: February 19, 2006
Time of Sighting: 2 AM EST
Date Reported: February 19, 2006
Duration of Sighting: Not Known
Location of Sighting: Plymouth, Massachusetts
Latitude: 41.9 Degrees North
Longitude: 70.6 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: One
Weather: Clear. Visibility 10 Miles.
Astronomical: Moon Visible to Southeast (147 Degrees Azimuth
and 24 Degrees Elevation). Moon Was in Waning Gibbous Phase
(68% Illumination).
Description (In Witness's Own Words):
I had sighting on the east side of crescent moon in a south easterly
direction. One more was located below the initial sighting. The
object was big and bright it moved in a figure eight like pattern.
It had bright lights seemingly detached from it. The lights did not
go around simultaneously in a pattern but definitely seemed to
surround full area of object. The one below it was identical but
seemed a bit smaller.
Investigator's Notes: The witness is
referring to the crescent moon as a reference point in her sighting
so the light that she was looking at was not the moon. Like
most night sightings it is difficult to identify what the witness
sighted. More information and witnesses would be necessary to
make an identification (or conclude that sighting was unidentified).
In subsequent message the witness said that several lights moved in
varying patterns.
