Man Sees Shiny Metallic Object Moving In & Out of Clouds

Date of Sighting: July 3, 2007
Time of Sighting: 4:30 PM PDT
Date Sighting Reported: July 6, 2007
Duration of Sighting: Unknown. (Probably a Few Minutes.)
Location of Sighting: Amity, Oregon (About 30 Miles SW of Portland)
Latitude: 45.1 Degrees North
Longitude: 123.25 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: One
Weather: The Official Weather Observation at Nearby McMinnville, Oregon Showed That Skies Were Clear & That the Visibility Was 10 Miles. The Witness Mentioned That Clouds Were Present at The Time of the Sighting. The temperature Was 85 Degrees at the Time of the Sighting so a Few Cumulous Could Have Been Present.

Description (In Witness's Own Words): At approximately 4:30 p.m. while driving I happened to look up at a cloud bank. (It was a south-southwest direction.) What caught my attention was a very shiny metallic object that had been reflecting off of the sun. At first I thought it was just an airplane, but as watched the object I noticed that it seemed as if it was hovering. At this point I decided to pull off the road to get a better view with my binoculars. While watching it through my binoculars the object continued to float as if it was coming throught the cloud bank. In the entire time I noticed that it grew larger as it came closer. I was able to see the object as it came through the clouds until it reappeared in front of the cloud bank it just went through. When it was completely clear of the cloud bank it again appeared very shiny and metallic. I assume the sun shining on it can account for the shiny appearence. The object was very large and rectangular in shape, almost cigar shaped but just more squared. There weren't any lights flashing and there wasn't any noise. The object hovered in front of the cloud bank for about 30 seconds and then it retreated in the exact same way as it appeared only it did not remerge out of the cloud bank. It was as if it vanished in the clouds. As I drove on Ii continued to watch that spot to see if anything came out, but nothing did.

Investigator's Notes: I suppose there is a possibility that the witness was observing an airplane from a long distance, but given that the object appeared to "retreat," made no noise, and that he viewed the object through binoculars is more indicative that it was not an airplane and probably something else.
