Weather: Scattered Clouds at 6,000 Feet. Visibility 10 Miles.

Description (In Witness's Own Words): I saw what first appeared to me to be a comet. The object was white with a coneshaped contrail. It reminded me of an old timey badmitten feather-flight. By the time I could get my telescope setup it had moved in a northern direction across the sky. As I tracked it, I could see what appeared to be a contrail moving away. I could not see anything generating the contrail.

Investigator's Notes: It is not clear if the witness saw an object or just a contrail. His report resembles descriptions by other witnesses on the same night and near the same time. (See drawing above.) The witness did not leave any contact information in his report so no further investigation can be done. Update: December 15, 2007 - An article in the Yarmouth County Vanguard News indicates that the likely source of the above sighting was an Atlas V booster from a rocket launch at Cape Canaveral, Florida on the same night.
