Description (In Witness's Own Words): Around 8 pm just as the sun had gone down and the full moon was rising in the sky...I saw something streak across the Eastern sky from North to South. It looked like a shooting star, but it had light blue turquoise-colored light in the back of it, and neon pinkish red light in the front of it and it appeared to be very large. Not knowing how far it was on the horizon, since I live on a hill, and trees are my horizon line, it went out and disappeared as if it burned up or out just before it hit my horizon line. Later, my boyfriend and I watched a big helicopter hover in the general vicinity for about a half an hour. We thought the helicopter was a UFO at first, since it was far off and we saw colored lights circling around it, but it finally moved and flew close enough that we could see with binoculars that it was a helicopter and we could hear it. I have seen nor heard anything about what fell out of the sky tonight! 3-31-07. I am in Beaverton in a 3-story townhouse and saw it off my deck in the East while I was barbequeing. It streaked the sky long enough for me to yell at my boyfriend..."Jim, come here quick!" and it was still in the sky going down, and he stepped out and missed it. I want to know if anyone else saw it, or if there were any reports of it? It's bugging me. I've seen lots of shooting stars and meteor showers and even in the daylight, but never anything with these kind of colors! Can anyone help me?

Investigator's Notes: The witness provided a nice detailed report about what she saw. Given the details provided I suspect that she observed a meteor. Another possibility is she saw space junk re-entering the atmosphere, but I have not heard of any other reports. I checked some of the local newspapers in the Portland area, but saw no articles regarding space junk or meteors in the area.
