Description (In Witness's Own Words): THERE WERE TWO LIGHTS IN THE SKY OVER THE GSNP (Great Smokey Mountain Park). ONE WAS LARGE AND BLINKING RED AND ANOTHER WAS BRIGHT WHITE, ALMOST DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH, BUT MORE TOWARD THE LEFT. THE LIGHTS DID NOT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE MANY PLANES THAT WE SEE. THE LIGHTS WERE TOO LARGE AND BRIGHT. THEY WERE MOVING UP AND DOWN FAST AND THEN DISAPPEARED. ALTHOUGH WE WERE DRIVING IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION AND WHEN WE LOOKED AGAIN IT WAS GONE. IT LOOKED TO BE VERY CLOSE TO THE MOUNTAIN TOPS AS IF IT COULD BE, BUT IS WAS TOO FAR IN THE DISTANCE TO BE, BECAUSE IT WAS SO BRIGHT.
Second Report by Witness: I am glad you emailed me back, becuase I think that it was an ambulance on the mountain and it was so clear out and it was drving over winding mountain. I saw something last night that looked the same and it was just a car. Someone told me of others seeing it the same night in Cherokee I thought it was one too.
Investigator's Notes: The witness has performed her own investigation. The lights were from an ambulance driving over the nearby mountains. This is a good illustration of how conventional phenomena can be mistaken for UFOs. It is our belief that many UFO sightings could be explained if more data were available or if time permited onsite investigation. |
