Weather: Clear Skies . (Per Witness Observation.)
Description (In Witness's Own Words): Early Friday morning at approximately 1:45 am I was out on my back deck in Glace Bay and I saw a very bright orange object flying through the middle of the big dipper flying towards down town Glace Bay. The object seemed maybe at about 30,000 ft then it started to accelerate and climb fairly fast until it went out of sight. It was definitely not a plane or shooting star. There was no sound either. Over the last 5 months I have seen a fair amount of strange objects in the sky, but this was by far the best yet. I wish I had of been able to film it because it was so clear to the naked eye. It must have been fairly large because of the way it looked and how bright it was.
Investigator's Notes: The witness reported his sighting only a few hours after it happened. Given the characteristics that he described I don't have an explanation for what was sighted. The ascending motion eliminates meteors, space junk, etc. It is also unlikely to be a balloon because of the time and the apparent rapid ascent.
