Sighting Reports 2007

Woman Sees 4 Blinking Stationary Lights Nearly Straight Up in Sky

Date of Sighting: April 27, 2007
Time of Sighting: Began at Around 7:00 PM PDT
Date Sighting Reported: April 27, 2007
Duration of Sighting: At Least 2 Hours and 30 Minutes
Location of Sighting: Laguna Niguel, California (Along Coast About 100 Miles NW of San Diego)
Latitude: 33.5 Degrees North
Longitude: 117.7 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: One
Weather: Clear Skies. Visibility 7 Miles. Light Winds. (Official Weather Reports From Long Beach and Huntington Beach, California which are close to Laguna Niguel.)

Description: The witness phoned her sighting and she was still seeing the lights when she made the report. Apparently she first saw one light, but later three more lights joined the first light. The lights were red, blue, and white in color. The lights were near "zenith" (straight up in the sky) and were flashing (or blinking). The lights were brighter than the brightest star or planet, but no stars or planets were visible at the time of the sighting. No sound was heard. The witness noticed the lights when talking to a friend while sitting on her couch. She took a short video using a regular camera. She said that she needs assistance to transfer the video from her camera to her computer. She promised to send the video once it was compiled in the proper format.

Investigator's Notes: Given what the witness told me I have no explanation for what she observed. She said that she could not see stars. The official weather report shows clear skies. There is a possibility that a haze layer was over the area making all stars/planets invisible except for objects at high elevations above the horizon. The flashing and "color display" could be the result of the haze layer. (This is a speculation. More information will be gained when the video is viewed.) Updates will be posted.
