Sighting Reports 2007 Couple See 2 Bright White Lights Flying in FormationOne Light Had Small Red on Its Right
Date of Sighting: June 19, 2007 Description (In Witness's Own Words): I saw two lights coming from the northwest moving to the southeast. Both were about 5,000 or less feet high and in formation, moving at the same speed. Both were separated about 100 feet or less and moving in formation. The Speed was about 150 miles per hour. Both were bright white lights (similar to the light and size of Venus). The first one had a little red light on it's right side. I called my wife to see this because no planes should be flying that close and there was no sound so I wanted her to see this. We both looked for about one minute while talking and then the first one dissapeared slowly above our heads (straight up) followed by the other one. There was no sound at all during the whole time. Both vanished at the same area of the sky. Investigator's Notes: The witness feels that this sighting is unusual because of the close proximity of the lights to each other, how low they were flying, and the fact that no sound was heard. A red light was observed on the right side of the first or "lead" light. Airplanes normally have a red light on the left wing and a green light on the right wing. Therefore this observation suggests that the lights were probably not regular aircraft. It is difficult to say what the witnesses sighted. Not enough information is available to say anything definitive about this sighting. A note of interest is that another similar sighting occurred about 175 MI to the NW at Laytonville, California about 10 minutes earlier. The only difference between the sightings is that the direction of movement in Laytonville was towards the east compared to the southeast for the Lathrop sighting. The sightings are probably not of the same objects (lights), but could be indicative of unusual activity in the same general area. Click here to read about the Laytonville sighting. |
