Description (In Witness's Own Words): First of all, I am neither a sensationalist nor someone that would easily jump to unsupported conclusions. In fact, I work in a field where factually-supported observations and scientific reputation are held in high regard. Having said this, I would like to report the sighting of an unidentified flying object that myself and three other people in my family observed. At 11 pm on the night of May 6th, we witnessed a brightly lit object moving in the clear night sky. The "craft" (I say it was a craft because it seemed to be a solid object) moved silently towards the northeast, initially covering 1-2 miles, and then changed course and proceeded southeast for 1-2 miles before reversing direction. The craft then seemed to hover going up and down for approximately 5 minutes in the same general area, sometimes moving quickly, sometimes very slowly. The craft varied in altitude from approximately 1000 feet to basically on the ground. We followed with amazement as the craft hovered and then continued its forward motion sometimes "wobbling" from side to side, unlike anything we have seen previously. We observed the craft for at least 15 minutes, but lost sight of it when it went behind some trees in a low lying area. We did not see it again after that. None of us could say for certain what we observed. It was very unlikely that the craft was a plane, helicopter or balloon, and as I mentioned earlier it was silent except for perhaps a slight humming noise (although this could have been nearby air-conditioner units running). In terms of size I would estimate the craft to be at least 150-200 feet in length and elliptical in shape. I have attached a figure for your inspection. From what I could see of the distant craft, it possessed a number of bright evenly-spaced lights on the rear section (perhaps 5 or 6 bright white/bluish lights) that seemed to faintly light up the rest of the craft. I could tell that the lights were on the top side of the craft since they were only visible when the craft wobbled in our direction. I can't say for certain but there may have been some other markings towards the front of the craft, and perhaps some smaller lights. I tried to capture some digital images of the craft but was largely unsuccessful. I took four pictures but only one seemed to have anything on it. I have attached this photo for your inspection although I cannot be certain that the lights were actually from the craft (perhaps from the local shopping center?). The next day I even attempted to locate the approximate spot where it came near the ground. As far as I could determine it hovered very low to the ground near a transformer station or alternatively next to that near a reservoir. Both seemed to have open space around them. I have not investigated the 'potential landing site' further at this point. When I started writing this field I mentioned that I am not one inclined to falsify information. All I (and my family) can say for certain is that this was an extremely unusual flying display and the craft moved unlike traditional flight vehicles that we see routinely in the sky. It truly was a UFO in every sense of the word. I am really only supplying this information to see whether it can be supported by other witnesses. Who knows maybe it could even be useful for researchers in this field!

Second Report From Witness (Received June 2, 2007): The witness stated that he visited the "possible" landing site which was a power station owned by Southern California Edison. The power station was located about 2 miles from his home where the photos were taken. He did not observe any landing trace. He said that he saw a "smashed fence," but due to corrosion he thought that the fence damage had occurred several months ago and was not related to his sighting. The witness borrowed a Geiger counter and took radiation measurements at the site. He did not find any radiation readings above background. He also snapped a daytime photo showing the direction of where his photo was taken. (See second photo above.)

Investigator's Notes: The witness presents himself as intelligent and reliable. He has issued a very explicit report of what he saw. The drawing, motion, and other characteristics of the craft do not fit any conventional aircraft. His notion that the craft may have landed near a power station is noteworthy. I have requested that the witness revisit the possible landing site and to let me know if any landing traces can be found. The lights in the photos could be the craft, but could also have conventional explanations (e.g shopping center lights). I lightened the original photo in an attempt to reveal any shapes behind the lights. The lightened background did not show anything solid behind the groups of lights. The blowups of the individual lights do not reveal anything unusual. Any other witnesses that noticed anything unusual in the skies in this area are urged to file a report.
