Sighting Reports 2007
Man Spots Light That Moved in "Lazy J Pattern", Disappear,
& Then Exhibit 3 Flashes
Date of Sighting: February 17, 2007
Time of Sighting: 11:45 PM PST
Date Reported: March 18, 2007
Duration of Sighting: About 5 Seconds
Location of Sighting: Near Rice Hill, Oregon (SW Oregon About 50 Miles S of Eugene)
Latitude: 43.53 Degrees North
Longitude: 123.29 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: One
Weather: Light Rain. Cloud Bases (Ceiling) 5,000 Feet. Visibility 10 Miles.
Description (In Witness's Own Words): While driving at night (late) I saw what I thought was a falling star, but during the fall it made a curve (like a lazy J for about 5 sec). After it went out, to the right of where it fell from behind a lower cloud were 3 flashes only behind the cloud. I have never seen a falling star curve, only fall in a straight line. I am not sure what it was, but I will always wonder about what I had seen.
Investigator's Notes: I first thought that the witness saw a meteor, but given the weather conditions (low clouds and light rain) makes a meteor scenario more unlikely. Lightning also would be a possibility, but given the time of year and location this is also unlikely. |
