Description (In Witness's Own Words): On Saturday November 2nd 2007 at approximately 12:30 PM I was driving westbound on University near the Rural intersection when I noticed near a plane that had just taken off from Sky harbor Airport. Just below the plane from my angle I saw what I thought at the time to be a parachute. This struck my as very strange given the location and vicinity to the airport. I continued to watch this object along with my girlfriend as it changed shape into more of a V shaped fixed wing. Very soon after within just a few moments it changed shape again into more of an orb with an arm or extension of some kind. At that time it seemed to resemble a helicopter which, being a skeptic as I am seemed the likely suspect at this point. But this object continued to hover and change yet again to an orb then it split into two distinct orbs which separated with one just above the other and to the right almost as if in formation. They then merged back into one sphere and this process repeated about three times before the object vanished from all view. This seemed very puzzling as I had a much better angle as I continued to drive towards Mill. The object looked to be a red or dark orange.

Second Report by Witness (In Response to Investigator Questions): Yes, I observed the object as I was heading west on University Drive in Tempe,AZ which is in clear line-of-sight of Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, AZ. Both my girlfriend and I observed this object for no more than 5 to 7 minutes before it disappeared. The airliner that it seemed in close proximity of when I first noticed the object was a commercial jetliner taking off heading east. I hope this was of some help. I would really like to know if there are any more sightings that may have taken place in that area in that time span. Thank you.

Investigator's Notes: This is a significant sighting considering that it occurred in the daytime with good weather conditions. Obviously this unknown craft is a threat to aviation safety considering that it was in the "take off" pattern at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and that it was close to a commercial jetliner. Any other witnesses who saw any unusual airborne craft in this area are urged to file a report.
