Weather: Clear Skies. Visibility 15 Miles. Winds Were Calm.
Description: Last night, Dec 31st, I noticed an unusual light in the sky. The light was too bright to be a star. I thought it may be a satellite, however, it exhibited an unusual pattern of movement: it drifted down, then over, then back again. Also unusual was its brightness and its alternating flashes of blue, red and white colourings.
Comments: Analysis has revealed that the light sighted by the witness is probably the planet Mars. Mars is bright in the area of sky where the light was sighted. The apparent movement could be due to an illusion called autokinesis. |
