Time of Sighting: 9:25 PM MST
Date Sighting Reported: November18, 2008
Duration of Sighting: About Ten Minutes
Location of Sighting: Cortez, Colorado (See Map)
Latitude: 37.3 Degrees North
Longitude: 108.7 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: Multiple (Exact Number Unknown)
Number of Witnesses Interviewed: One
Weather: Skies Were Clear. Visibility Was 10 Miles. Winds Were From the East-Northeast at 5 MPH.
Description: We noticed a quick pattern of lights (2 lights, one light) that were stationary in the sky, relatively low on the horizon, and over Mesa Verde National Park (to the Southeast). They were not very bright, but had faint tracers which gave us the impression that whatever was making the light was spinning on a horizontal axis. It stayed in the same spot for about five minutes, and then moved off slowly to the southeast. We watched it for another five minutes or so until it was out of view.
Comments: It is difficult to say what these lights could be. Perhaps they could be military flares, but one wouldn't expect the military to be conducting exercises over a national park. The witness also stated that the lights were not descending in a follow-up communication. |
