Weather: Scattered Clouds Were Observed With Bases at 1,000 Feet. Visibility Was 10 Miles. Winds Were From the West at 10 MPH.

The witness left a voice mail and said that he sighted two objects with nearly identical characteristics to the family in Long Beach, CA. (Click here to read about the Long Beach sighting.) The witness stated that he saw one object to the northeast that vanished after about 30 seconds. He then saw another object in the same area move towards the northwest in the direction of Edwards Air Force Base (AFB). He saw two aircraft following the object and thought that they could be military aircraft.

Comments: The witness stated that he sighted almost identical objects that were reported from Long Beach on the same night. He stated that he saw 6 to 8 red strobing lights and objects were of a triangular shape. His sighting was about 90 minutes earlier than the Long Beach sighting. It is highly unlikely that the witness could have seen the object heading towards Edwards AFB due to the blocking of terrain. (See comments below.)

Update - October 27, 2008: We received the following comments from a reader: The geography doesn't support the conclusion that the objects were headed towards Edwards AFB. Given the terrain in the San Fernando Valley the furthest "northeast" the object might have been from the witness is the town of San Fernando, and even that is doubtful (see Google terrain map attached). The object would have to have been very high for him to see it as far away as San Fernando in which case he probably wouldn't have been able to describe the object in detail. Even if the witness was flying over Encino he could not have seen an object far enough to the east that it would have been heading northwest towards Edwards Air Force Base. I have flown around the San Fernando Valley numerous times in small private planes and believe me you can't see as far east of Encino as the location of the red arrow on the map accompanying the sighting report. (The reader is referring to the first map that I displayed which showed the path of the objects towards Edwards AFB.) If the witness was in Encino, even flying over it, and the object was heading northwest (even north by northwest) it could not have been headed towards Edwards AFB.
