Description: We were on our way home from my mother's house on the Fourth of July. We have done this every year for the past 10 years. My eight year old son noticed lights in the sky and had asked what they were. I didn't even look as I was tired and blew them off as only fireworks. He then was completely freaked out and insisted that I see. I looked outside the window and saw what he was talking about. There were three very round lights. They were red orbs with bluish purple lights around the outside. They were in a line not too far apart then moved in sequence like a snake. It was much too high in the sky to be an aircraft of any sort and the movement was much too fluid. My husband stopped on the side of the road and we watched as they moved northeast. They suddenly picked up speed and disappeared. I used to belong to a paranormal research group here in Southern California until my schedule became too busy as I am a teacher. We used to travel to Joshua Tree yearly looking for these things. I have always been skeptical of these things in the past even on our UFO watches. I have never seen anything like this, except on TV - the UFO shows. Unfortunately my camera phone battery was dying as I tried to photograph the lights. Therefore I do not have any evidence. I have been searching since yesterday for others who have seen the same. There were quite a few people out, as it was the Fourth of July. Unfortunately there were also quite a bit of fireworks. Because my husband and son were so disturbed by this sighting, I would like your feedback.

Comments: This sighting is unusual and unlike the other sightings in the area on July 4. Given available information I have no explanation for this sighting.
