Several See Bright Red Light Moving Erratically in Evening Sky

Weather: (At Nearby Rhinelander) On September 6 Skies Were Cloudy With Areas of Light Rain. Cloud Bases Were Between 4,500 and 6,000 Feet. On September 9 Skies Were Clear.

Description: One of the witnesses left a voice mail a day after the first day of the sightings. This witness was subsequently contacted for further details. The witness stated that she has observed this light in the evening hours since Saturday, September 6, 2008. No sound was heard. The light has been primarily in the western sky at about 45 degrees from the horizon. The light moves erratically and sometimes flashes. The light has a reddish tint and the September 6 photo reveals a boomerang shape. The photos were taken with a Blackberry Curve Device.

Comments: Originally it was believed that the witnesses had been observing the planet Jupiter. The photos, weather conditions, and observed positions of the light have ruled out Jupiter as the cause of this sighting. Given available information no explanation can be rendered.
