Time of Sighting: 10:07 PM EDT
Date Sighting Reported: July 4, 2008
Duration of Sighting: 2 to 3 Minutes
Location of Sighting: New Port Richey, Florida (Along W. FL Coast About 40 MI NW of Tampa)
Latitude: 28.35 Degrees North
Longitude: 82.67 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: 8 to 10
Number of Witnesses Interviewed: 2
Weather: Skies Were Clear. Visibility Was 10 Miles. Winds Were From the East-Northeast at 4 MPH.

Description: This report was phoned in shortly after the sighting. A couple were watching fireworks and noticed a huge cigar shaped object that was very bright and flickering. The object flew slowly southward. Two witnesses were interviewed. One of witnesses has extensive experience in aviation and is a certified jet mechanic for U.S. Airways. He stated that this object was "not of this world."

Comments: This sighting is significant because of the background of the primary witness (aviation) and the fact that many other witnesses saw the object. I don't believe that the object was related to the fireworks display, but that is likely the reason why the witnesses noticed the object. I have no explanation for this sighting.
