Date of Sighting: June 11, 2008
Time of Sighting: 4:22 AM CDT
Date Sighting Reported: June 11, 2008
Duration of Sighting: Two Seconds
Location of Sighting: Peoria, Illinois
Latitude: 40.72 Degrees North
Longitude: 89.63 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: One
Weather: The Official Weather Observation at the Airport Showed Skies to be Clear and Visibility Was 10 Miles. Winds Were From the South-Southwest at 7 MPH. The Witness Stated in Her Report That Low Clouds Were Present. Conditions Could Have Differed Somewhat From the Witness's Location Versus the Airport.

Description: Listen to Clip of Interview (MP3)
The witness reported the sighted the same day that it happened. She stated that she was walking to her car to go to work. She saw a very large bright light that had an apparent size of a "vollyball" held at arm's length. The light scurried away immediately when she saw it in the morning sky. She said she felt that it sensed her presence and moved away. No sound was heard and it appeared that the light was descending somewhat, but she didn't hear or see any crash.

Comments: This is an intriguing sighting considering the sincerity of the witness, the size of the light, and the apparent "intelligent" behavior exhibited by the light. It is unlikely that anyone else saw the light considering the brevity of the sighting and the time.

Update June 23, 2008: The witness called and said that a sighting of an unknown black aerial object occurred on May 31, 2008 in Peoria. An article about the sighting was in the Peoria, Illinois Times Observer newspaper. Click here to read the article. The witness's mother cut the article out of the paper and gave to her. The sighting described in the article occurred 12 days prior to the above sighting, but there are few similarities. However, the sighting occurred in the same area and by credible observers (amateur astronomers).
