Description: I saw a very similar pattern of lights in the NW sky from a house near the intersection of Law & Lamont streets in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego, CA. What I can remember is I saw very clearly were 7 non-flashing orbs of a bold orange glow. They were arranged at first in a 3:1:3 fashion, two equilateral triangles, each lying in a plane parallel to the other, and the planes are separated by approximately 4-5 times the separation of any two orbs in a triangle of leg. The structure was aligned W-E and the Western triangle than slowly flattened as the whole structure appeared to turn to the North-West and eventually fade into the distance. There was no sound. The object seemed to be moving quite fast because the orb array was to large to really accurately estimate (I would guess a football field if it were only a couple hundred feet off the ground). The array appeared to rotate to a NW-ES orientation and move in that direction until the orbs faded away one by one. The sighting lasted for about 5-10 minutes and I find it hard to believe that there won't be hundreds more witnesses as this event happened over a populated city and about 20 minutes into the New Year. I've included a rough diagram I've made on the using MS Paint, but I will try and send a more revised version later. I finished my BS in physics this fall and I am currently a web programmer, I know a lot of science, but I've never seen anything like this in my entire life. Witnessing this event brought me to tears because I was never so sure in my life that what I was seeing was not of this world.

Comments: The witness's diagram looks almost the same as the video taken at nearby Clairemont, California at about same time. Similar lights were also seen in the San Francisco area on the same date and at nearly the same time. These lights would have been very high in the atmosphere if these were the same lights in the San Francisco and San Diego areas. This fact certainly would exclude the "Chinese Lantern" theory proposed by some media outlets.
