Sighting Reports 2008 Marine Sargent Sees Bright Blinking Blue Light in W. SkyDate of Sighting: October 4, 2008 Description: I am a Sargent in the Marine Corps. I watched a blinking sold single light, blink on and off. It was about the size of a large star and was blueish white in color. It did not move, and is still there and I have been watching it well over 20 minutes. There are no airplanes in the sky and I don't hear any noise. It is not a slow moving satellite. It is just an odd blinking light, that just blinks on and off. I have never seen it there before. My location is San Jose California 95139. The light is off to the west in the lower part of the sky. Comments: I at first thought that the witness could be observing the star Altair which was in the lower part of the western sky at the time and location of the sighting. The star was the brightest in this area of the sky (magnitude +0.77). However, given the weather report the witness could not have observed a star. Therefore I don't know what was sighted. Perhaps with more information an explanation could be given. |
