Weather: Clear Skies. (Per Witness Observation.)

Description: On Monday night around 11:00pm eastern time, I went out my back deck to get some air and look at the stars as it was a clear night. I was looking around and noticed an odd star in the southwestern sky that seemed lower than most. I watched it for a few minutes and then noticed it see to have faint colors around it. I asked my daughter to bring me my binoculars so I could get a closer look. Holding them very still and focusing the lenses I was able to make out something I have never seen before. There were green, blue, red and white lights in a very unique pattern. The shape of the star seemed elliptical. It was very interesting and I could not identify what it was, but knew it could not be a star as I could not see detail of a star through binoculars. After a few minutes I noticed the light was moving and then I could see another object with the same type of light pattern emerge from or come in front of the primary object. The secondary object was about 1/4 the size of the primary object. The secondary object then moved slowly to the right of the primary object so they were distinctly separate. Then the secondary object had some short white light rays / beams come from what I would think would be the bottom of it. The beams were not very long, just about the same height as the secondary object. The object then seemed to almost orbit or pass in front of the primary object. I watched this for about 15 minutes and the primary object stayed at the same elevation, but after a few minutes started to slowly moved to the right ( northward ) in the sky. After a few more minutes I had to go to bed so I could not watch any longer.

Comments: I am not sure what the witness sighted. Saturn was very bright in the location where the witness saw the light. When viewed through binoculars bright planets can look quite large and display colors. However, given that the witness saw another light and saw a beam protrude from this light makes the "Saturn explanation" less likely.
