Weather: A Few Clouds Were Observed at 25,000 Feet. Visibility Was 9 Miles. Winds Were From the Southwest at 5 MPH.

Description: My wife and I were traveling northbound on I-65 towards Louisville, Kentucky last night around mile marker 117 at 11:10 when we spotted 9 yellow lights in the sky ahead of us. As we came closer, we saw 3 more. Passing under them, we could hear no sounds which would indicate helicopters. It was at that moment that we saw several more, possibly another dozen, rising up from the ground on the west side of the interstate and going east which is the direction of the wind. There was no mention of it on the TV news or in the newspaper this morning. We would like to know what these were. We would appreciate any information you may offer.

Comments: In subsequent communication with the witnesses it was discovered that the objects were likely "homemade" hot air balloons. The witnesses made this determination. This could well be the case given that the lights were seen ascending and were moving with the wind.
