Simi Valley is About 35 Miles Northwest of Los Angeles.

Date of Sighting: December 21, 2008
Time of Sighting: 8:30 PM PST
Date Sighting Reported: December 26, 2008
Duration of Sighting: 2 to 3 Minutes
Location of Sighting: Simi Valley, California
Latitude: 34.27 Degrees North
Longitude: 118.72 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: One
Weather: Skies Were Clear at Nearby Los Angeles. (A Few Clouds With Bases at 11,000 Feet Were Reported in The Next Hour.) Visibility Was 9 Miles. Winds Were Calm.

Description: I saw a small red light (almost pink) with a transparent circular shape beneath it. (It appeared to be possibly an aurora but white.) The object was moving in a northwest direction and seemed to gain altitude and speed. I saw no flashing lights noticed that would resemble an airplane/helicopter. The sky was overcast in that direction and the object became lost in the clouds. I was in the process of driving home and was in my neighborhood. I rolled down my windows and I heard no sound from the object. When I arrived at my residence I found a camera, but was unable to capture an image. I witnessed it moving off in the distance. I checked the Vandenberg AFB (Air Force Base) launch schedule and didn't find anything for this date, as I am close to this location.

Comments: I don't have an explanation for this sighting. The witness reported the sighting in the direction of Vandenberg Air Force Base. However, the witness checked the launch schedule for the base and found no recorded rocket launches. (I have verified that no rockets were launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base.)
