Sighting Reports 2008 2 Witness Jet Fighters Chasing Large Lights in Night Sky
Date of Sighting: May 12, 2008 Description: Listen to Clip of Audio of Report (MP3) Report From Witness Regarding Above Photo: Here it is. This was taken directly forward, the main middle light split into three others before zooming off. The fourth light on the left split from the main group, split seconds before the shot was taken. I am not sure what the connecting line is. I could not see that visibly. My camera is ready tonight. Comments: I have made an inquiry to the community relations officer at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base to see what aircraft activities were occurring on May 12. I received the following response: Davis-Monthan AFB does not have any F18s at the current time. At this time the base has A10s, British Tyhoons, and British Tornados. F16s are flown out of Luke AFB and Tucson International Airport by the Air National Guard. In order to fully respond to what activities were occurring on the night of the sighting the community relations officer said that an address or cross street where the activity was observed is needed. The witness does not want to reveal his address. I wonder why the Air Force needs this information? Certainly they should be able to say if aircraft were flying in a given area without needing a specific address. Why this deception? The witness was able to capture one photo of the lights despite having a low battery. He stated in his comments that at the time of the photo that he saw four lights. The photo shows a significant "mass of light" with time exposure. The witness used a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT camera (8.0 Megapixel resolution) to take the photo. Any updates to this case will be posted. Anyone witnessing these lights along with military aircraft is urged to file a report. |
