Weather: Broken Clouds Observed at 4,700 Feet. Visibility 10 Miles. Winds Were Calm. (Witness Stated That Skies Were Very Clear in the Area of the Sighting. The Weather Observation Was Taken at Valdosta Airport.)

Description: I saw 5 or more bright lights vertically suspended over Valdosta Georgia, near Valdosta Technical College. The lights would come on one at a time and then turn off all at once. After seeing this I noticed a lot of planes flying in this area as if to be searching.

Second Report Received: Everyone that we told last night wanted to dismiss the lights as airplanes and etc. but we have seen planes before and this was not it. We do live near an air force base (Moody Field) so I am not sure if it was something they were doing, but again it didn’t look like that. In fact, I searched online all night to try and figure out what we saw and there were too many stories of these same lights with other people seeing them. I just want someone to let us all know what they are. If you have any answers please let us know.

Comments: I really don't have the answers to what the witnesses saw. I don't believe that the lights were military flares. It is interesting that the witness saw several aircraft in the area at the time. A similar sighting occurred one day later on January 9 at nearby Sale City, Georgia.
