Sighting Reports 2008

3 Witness Object Like "2 Plates Glued Together" Move Across Night Sky

Date of Sighting: April 12, 2008
Time of Sighting: From 9:48 to 9:55 PM PDT
Date Sighting Reported: April 13, 2008
Duration of Sighting: 7 Minutes
Location of Sighting: Walnut Creek, California (About 10 MI ENE of Oakland)
Latitude: 37.92 Degrees North
Longitude: 121.99 Degrees West
Number of Witnesses: Three
Number of Witnesses Interviewed: One
Weather: Clear Skies. Visibility 10 Miles. Winds Were Calm.

Description: The UFO was the size of a slowly moving star. I was moving across night sky slowly from west to east. The top stayed a steady green while the bottom flickered orange to yellow to red to blue in exact order. The top was oval shaped and the bottom was like two plates glued together. Smoke trailed behind it and was able to be smelled.

Second Report by Primary Witness: Now this thing was way too small to be a satellite or a rocket and also rockets and satellites either stay 1 color all over or blink everywhere. And, this one looked like a tiny moving star as we said in the form. My mom caught just a tiny glimpse of before it completely disappeared from sight. She even commented on how peculiar it was. As for the disappearance of it it went over a tree and right before our eyes the lights just shut off. The smell continued, but was faint. Later we saw it again with the lights. It seemed to hover just over us in sky before shutting off it's lights. Trust me, this was NOT a rocket or satellite to us!

Comments: The witness has presented a good argument that the object was not a satellite or rocket. However, it is intriguing that the witness could describe the shape of the object in detail (oval top and bottom shaped like two glued plates) while indicating that it was the size of a tiny star. The witness did not use binoculars to view the object so the detailed shape description seems unusual. A check of visible satellites from the heavens-above.com web site revealed that visible satellites and rockets would have occurred before the time of the sighting. The last visible object before midnight was a Resurs 1-4 Rocket. The rocket was moving towards the north and would have become invisible at 9:48 PM. (This was the beginning time of the sighting according to the witness report.) The fact that the witnesses saw a trail and detected an odor is also unusual. Given available information I don't know what the witnesses sighted.
