"Falling" Bright Light Seen in Night Sky

Date of Sighting: May 24, 2009
Time of Sighting: 9:55 to 9:59 PM PDT
Location of Sighting: Buckley, Washington (About 20 MI ESE of Tacoma)

Description: I had made an early fire outside in our fire pit tonight hoping that the kids would want to make 'smores. We live in Buckley, but very close to the Bonney Lake border off of 234th avenue court east. My daughter's friend was playing with the fire and I was standing on the deck in the backyard looking at the sky (as I usually do) and I see a bright white light in the sky to the south. It was lower than a plane would fly and at first I thought it was a star that is usually near that spot at this time of the evening. I watched it for a few seconds and it seemed to be falling. I yelled to my daughter's friend to look at it. He saw it and I yelled to my daughter who was in the bathroom to come out in a hurry. Meanwhile, this bright white 'star' that is NOT blinking at all seems to be falling quickly towards us. When she comes outside it is moving to the southeast towards Mt. Rainier and is traveling away from us. She looked through the binoculars and she said it looked like two lights close together, when I looked through them first, it appeared to be four lights very close together, but looking without the binoculars it seemed one bright white light. I knew it was going to fade out like most of them do and sure enough within about 3 seconds it simply faded to nothing or at least it faded so that we couldn't see it anymore.

Note: I believe that the witnesses saw the International Space Station which was visible in the direction and within a few minutes of when the sighting occurred. (This is allowing for an error of a few minutes when the sighting occurred.)
