Sighting Reports 2009

2 Orange Objects Seen Moving South in Night Sky

Date of Sighting: September 10, 2009
Time of Sighting: 9:14 PM PDT
Location of Sighting: Everett, Washington (About 20 Miles North of Seattle)

Description: While laying on the deck watching stars we noticed two orange fast moving objects going from north to south. The objects were the size of a pea at arm's length. One moved away from the other then back again. We watched them go across the sky and they made a half circle then disappeared. We had watched one satellite go over and several jets and small planes. The objects moved faster than the jets and made no noise. The sighting was witnessed by 3 adults.

Additional Information Provided by Witness: I was lying down on a lounge chair looking straight up when I noticed a white light come into view. It looked exactly like a shooting star. Before I could say anything it divided into two small orange lights. They traveled besides each other what looked like 1/2 inch apart. The one on the left moved away from the other one maybe 1 1/2 to 2 inches then returned beside the other one. We watched them from directly over head and travel to maybe 20 degrees above the horizon. There they made a swooping left turn and disappeared. To travel this far across the sky took around 7 seconds. There was no sound at all. My wife and I have lived out in the country for last 34 years and have spent countless hours star gazing. Never before have we ever experienced any thing like this. I have never believed in UFOs or aliens, but I have no clue to what it was that we saw. I was hoping that there was others in the area that reported seeing them also. My son's house is less then a mile from the naval base at Everett. The naval base did have several large ships at port there.

Note: The Space Station and Space Shuttle were visible on the same night, but at different times than the above sighting. Given the erratic movement described I have no explanation for this sighting.
