Location of Sighting: Fort Bragg, California (Along Coast About 100 MI NNE of San Francisco)

Description: I was on the Mendicino Coast on the North Coast of California January 17th, 2009. At roughly 8:30 - 9:00 PM while I was enjoying a great starry evening a moving object with two large very bright lights caught my attention. I was beach side on a bluff when I noticed the lights were moving and looked markedly different than any lights that I had ever seen on planes or helicopters. The lights were much larger, unbelievably bright white, and solid not blinking. I could not see any part of the flying object other than two large bright lights which appeared to be on the bottom of this craft, but did not illuminate the body of this flying object. It moved slowly and horizontally in the sky when in an instant, its trajectory changed from flying horizontally to completely vertical and unbelievably fast. It moved completely out of my sight within one second. I never saw the object again after that.

Note: Given the movement of these lights I have no explanation.
