Woman Sees "Star-Like" Object Moving Erratically in Night Sky

Date of Sighting: June 16, 2009
Time of Sighting: 11:40 PM EDT
Location of Sighting: High Springs, Florida (Northern Florida)

Description: I was looking out my window after turning out the lights and I was looking through the trees noticing that the sky still had some clouds from earlier in the day. I could see the stars appearing in between the clouds as the clouds moved, but then I noticed one of the big stars was moving in no particular pattern. It looked just like it was playing. It moved sometimes in circles and sometimes in a straight line for short times, but, mostly moving in up and down movements and then in circles. I was looking out my bedroom window that faces in a westerly direction. The color of the object was the color of the stars with equal brightness. Well, I'm not going to draw stars, because you know what that looks like and I didn't think of taking pictures with my digital camera as I got kind of scared and just closed the blinds and went to sleep. I don't want to know about flying saucers since I have seen them in the past and they scare me. I never thought of reporting it until this time as I recently saw a documentary on the History Channel and thought it would be good to report it for a change.

Note: I believe that the witness saw a star or planet low on the horizon. The attenuation produced by atmospheric particles or pollution can cause the object to look brighter. The star Regulus and planet Saturn were the brightest objects on the western horizon at the time of the sighting. The magnitude of brightness was about +1.0 for both objects. The apparent movement can be an optical illusion referred as autokinesis.
